NOTE: Like many who have come to this community, Marjorie Barrick made a lasting impression on Las Vegas. After moving to Las Vegas in 1951 with her husband, Edward, she played a vital role in supporting education, social programs, and the arts throughout Southern Nevada
Dedicated to public education and debate, Barrick established an endowment at UNLV to fund the Barrick Lecture Series, a long-standing program of distinguished speakers. She was a founding member of the UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees, and sat on many community boards including the Nevada Ballet Theatre and the Variety Club.
Barrick was honored often for her devotion and philanthropy throughout the community. Recognitions include the Governor's Arts Award, the Distinguished Nevadan Award, Nevada Dance Theatre's "Woman of the Year" award, and an honorary doctorate in humane letters from UNLV.
