UNLV Student Financial Services will host two seminars about student loan consolidation on Thursday, March 30, at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The seminars, which are free and open to the public, will be held in Room 201 of the Moyer Student Union.
Before new rates are finalized for Stafford loans, UNLV Student Financial Services will help recipients, past, present and future, to understand the benefits and savings associated with loan consolidation. The seminars will include discussion about how loan holders can lock in a low fixed interest rate. Loan consolidation representatives will also be available to answer questions.
College students, graduates and families carrying student loan debt could potentially save thousands of dollars if they act before July 01, 2006, when the interest rates on Stafford student loans will be raised from the current rate of 4.70 percent to between 6.80 percent and 7.30 percent.
This event is co-sponsored by Educare and Sallie Mae.
