UNLV's Women's Research Institute of Nevada (WRIN) and the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) will host a reception April 15 to honor UNLV faculty members Joseph A. Fry, distinguished professor of history, and Su Kim Chung, manuscript librarian at the Lied Library, for the publication of their respective books.
The reception will be held 4-6 p.m. in the TLC, located on the third floor of the Lied Library on the UNLV campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Fry's most recent book, "Dixie Looks Abroad: The South and U.S. Foreign Relations, 1789-1973," was published by Louisiana State University Press in 2002. The book chronicles the American South's numerous foreign policy opinions and was recently chosen as an official selection of the History Book Club.
Chung's first book, "Las Vegas Then and Now," was published by Thunder Bay Press in 2002. The book captures the city's evolution from a desert railroad outpost to the gambling and entertainment capital of the world by pairing historical photographs with commissioned views of the same scenes today.
