The Foundation's annual fund is a source of flexible funds that enables the university to support emerging needs at UNLV. Annual funds come from thousands of alumni, faculty, staff, community advocates, and corporations who support the university through unrestricted contributions. The majority of the $1,170,000 raised by the annual fund in 2001-02 came from nearly 600 individual and corporate members of the university's annual giving programs, the President's Inner Circle, Academic Corporate Council, and President's Associates.

The UNLV Foundation, established in 1981, is an IRS code 501(c)3 non-profit organization that raises and manages private funds for the University.
