The UNLV department of film will host "The Road to Sundance," a seminar on producing, financing, and distributing independent film projects, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 24 in the Classroom Building Complex, Room A-106.

Seminar topics will include how to raise money, start a production company, plan a shoot, prepare contracts, secure distribution, and get films into festivals.

Seminar speakers will include Steve Montal, a producer and director with the Chapman Producers Program; Francisco Menendez, an associate professor in UNLV's film department and an independent filmmaker; Steve Helvey, talent manager and president of Boxcar Entertainment; and Dave Cole, president of Visionary Dreamscapes Entertainment.
