UNLV students, volunteers and representatives from the Arbor Day Foundation will plant more than 50 trees near the main entrance of campus to mark UNLV's distinction as a Tree Campus USA.

UNLV joins a select group of 115 colleges and schools nationwide as a Tree Campus USA. The Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota developed Tree Campus USA to honor colleges and universities that practice sound campus forestry. The aim of the program is to recognize college campuses for promoting healthy urban forest management and engaging the campus community in environmental stewardship.

UNLV's entire 332-acre campus is designated as an arboretum - an example for the community of how drought tolerant plants and native vegetation can be used to save water and add beauty to residential and community landscapes.

Since 1995, the campus has converted more than one million square feet of turf to water smart landscaping. Learn more about Tree Campus USA.
