Dr. Malcolm Potts, Bixby Professor of Population and Family Planning at the University of California, Berkeley, will present a talked titled "Sex and War" based on his book of the same title, co-authored with Thomas Hayden." Dr. Potts' talk will focus on research which suggests that men are more genetically inclined than women to be more aggressive and form groups to wage battle. By using archaeological, historical and contemporary data about war and terrorism, Dr. Potts will outline ideas why human beings kill other members of their own species.
Dr. Potts is also director for the Bixby Center for Population, Health and Sustainability at UC Berkeley. He is a Cambridge trained obstetrician and a reproductive scientist.
