WHERE: Greenspun Hall courtyard, located off Maryland Parkway and University Drive
DETAILS: Greenspun Hall is UNLV's first facility to be registered as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) project and was designed to achieve Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Among its many environmentally sustainable design features is a large photo voltaic array that harnesses solar energy and offsets nearly 15 percent of its total estimated energy consumption. The building also has a chilled beam heating and cooling system, which significantly reduces energy consumption, resulting in an estimated cost savings of nearly $83,000 per year.
