WHAT: More than 200 educators, researchers and community leaders will examine how sustainability and climate change are being taught in Nevada's schools during the 2nd UNLV Urban Sustainability Conference

DETAILS: Expert panelists from UNLV, UNR, Nevada St. College, Clark County School District and community agencies will assess strategies for incorporating sustainability into K-16 education, student perceptions of climate change, understanding urban heat island effect and environmental literacy. Keynote speakers will also offer a national perspective on the issue. Breakout panels include:
o Sustainability Education in the Western U.S. for K-12 Students
o Creation and Correction of Myths about Global Warming
o The State of Climate Change Education
o Incorporating Sustainability into UNLV's Colleges and Schools
The conference will also include a panel on public/private sector collaboration with representatives from the City of Las Vegas, NV Energy, Harrah's Corporation, Southern Nevada Water Authority, Regional Transportation Commission, Southern Nevada Health District, Lucchesi Galati Architects and other community agencies and businesses.
