Anna Maria Orru is a passionate advocate of environmentally sustainable design. Her research work with Ove Arup & Partner's 'Foresight and Innovation Team' resulted in the publication of the ARUP: Drivers of Change 2006. She joined Exploration in 2008, with over nine years of experience working as an architect both in the UK and abroad. Between 2006 and 2008 she worked with Grimshaw, where she was involved in setting up and managing the Green R&D group. Prior to her work at Grimshaw, she worked with Anne Thorne Architects Partnership on the Angel Town Regeneration Scheme which won the Building for Life - the Gold Standard Award in 2006. Anna Maria Orru is currently developing a design system called 'SCENE' which will outline sustainable prototypes for architectural, urban, material and technological applications.
In this lecture, Anna Maria Orru will explain how Biomimicry and Natural Systems Design provided the inspiration for the ambitious and highly innovative Sahara Forest Project.
