The Arboretum at UNLV announces a free public gardening series featuring gardening and landscape experts from UNLV, KNPR's Desert Bloom, Las Vegas Springs Preserve, Southern Nevada Water Authority and a host of community partners. Events will be in the form of lectures, walking tours and demonstrations.
Fruit & Vegetable Gardening
March 1, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Topics include environmentally friendly pest control, landscape composting and gardening tips.
Landscaping Your Yard
March 15, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; March 16, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Topics include successful gardening principles and design, care of landscape trees and plants and xeric gardening tips.
Cactus & Succulents
March 29, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; March 30, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Topics include planting and caring for cacti, garden design and an overview of the best cacti and succulents for Southern Nevada.
