UNLV is launching a new online academic journal called The Journal of Hotel, Tourism, and Leisure Sciences.
"This is a new frontier for the dissemination of academic research," said Stuart Mann, dean of UNLV's William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, when announcing the creation of the journal.
"Articles are published when accepted rather than having to wait for a specific issue publication date," Mann said. "Authors can receive instant feedback via direct e-mail or on the online bulletin board."
Zheng Gu, associate professor of tourism and convention administration, has been appointed editor, and an international editorial board composed of experts in the field has been assembled.
Online papers are available without charge, and there is a search feature on the site. A printed copy of all papers published during the year will be available for a nominal fee at the end of each calendar year.
