The University of Nevada, Las Vegas today announced a national search to recruit its next executive vice president & provost, a position that reports to UNLV President David Ashley and serves interchangeably with him in the capacity of chief academic and chief administrative officer.
As chief academic officer for the university, the executive vice president and provost oversees and aligns academic and budgetary policy and priorities, ensures the quality of the faculty and student body, helps to expand the research enterprise and maintains the educational excellence of the institution.
To identify and recruit the most-talented candidates, UNLV has contracted with Greenwood & Associates, a consulting firm that specializes in executive searches for higher education. The firm will work closely with a university committee made up of faculty, students and staff to review applications, conduct interviews and recommend finalists to UNLV president David B. Ashley. Patricia Iannuzzi, Dean, University Libraries serves as chair of the recruitment and screening committee.
The executive vice president and provost position was left vacant after a change in university administration earlier this year. The position has been filled on an interim basis by Michael Bowers, UNLV Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, and Dawn Neuman, UNLV Vice Provost for Academic Resources. Both will continue to operate as co-officers in charge until a new executive vice president and provost begins work.
