UNLV's Adopt-A-School program began in 2009 as a way to introduce higher education to children at an early age. Throughout the program, elementary school students are encouraged to excel academically and are rewarded with prizes.
UNLV has adopted five local at-risk schools: Cynthia Cunningham Elementary, Oran K. Gragson Elementary, DeanPetersen Professional Development School, Paradise Professional Development School, Ruth Fyfe Empowerment School.
Top students from all of the adopted schools in kindergarten through fifth grade received tickets to the UNLV homecoming football game against Boise State. The UNLV Alumni Association will host their families at a tailgate.
The Adopt-A-School rally at Cunningham Elementary is open to UNLV students and employees.
