Upcoming University Forum lectures at UNLV will focus on taxpayer rights and the history of jazz piano. The following lectures are free and open to the public.
On Oct. 11, Steve Johnson, professor in UNLV's Boyd School of Law, will present "Taxpayer Rights in Dealing with the IRS." During the presentation, Johnson will discuss the various protections available to citizens engaged in disputes with the IRS. Emphasis will be on individual taxpayers and small businesses.
This lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History.
Pianist and composer Bill Cunliffe will present a lecture/performance Oct. 15 entitled "The History of Jazz Piano in America." Through his playing, Cunliffe, an instructor in the department of music at the University of Southern California, will trace the history of jazz piano from the late 19th century to the present day.
This lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Doc Rando Recital Hall in the Beam Music Center.
