Recent communications from the state of Nevada regarding possible budget reductions among the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institutions was a topic of discussion at the NSHE Board of Regents meeting today. In the discussion, Chancellor Jim Rogers shared a letter he wrote to Gov. Jim Gibbons which included summary financial information from UNLV and the University of Nevada, Reno. The information provided by UNLV was developed as background material, under the context that no one yet has a firm estimate of state revenue shortfalls.
Should it be necessary for UNLV to formally plan for budget reductions, our campus community and stakeholders will be involved. Further, we will preserve the integrity of our academic programs and make students our top priority. We will truly do our best to ensure that we maintain the level of excellence students have come to expect from UNLV.
