UNLV President Carol C. Harter said, "I support the proposed Nevada State College at Henderson, and I believe UNLV is the logical institution to act as academic sponsor for accreditation purposes.

"Among others, including some Regents and faculty senate chairs at the Thursday Regents meeting, I expressed some concerns about the proposed mission statement for the college. Among them was that the proposed mission did not reflect previous Regents and public discussions about the character of the college. Having had a free discussion at the meeting of the purpose for creating a state college in Nevada, I am certain Richard Moore will work with the Regents to develop a mission statement complementing the existing institutions in UCCSN."
