A fully staged production of Igor Stravinsky's "The Soldier's Tale" will be presented at UNLV on Sept. 19 as part of the University Forum lecture series.
"'The Soldier's Tale' by Igor Stravinsky: A Live Performance and Interpretative Lecture" is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Alta Ham Fine Arts Building, Room 111. It is free and open to the public.
Most audiences have not seen a fully staged production of this piece, which is considered a masterpiece in the chamber music repertoire, because of the logistical difficulties involved in coordinating the dancers, actors, and musicians.
This production will involve performances by faculty members of UNLV's music, dance and theatre departments as well as lectures by Margot Mink Colbert of dance and Janis McKay of music.
The University Forum lecture series is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts. The presentation of "The Soldier's Tale" is being co-sponsored by the UNLV Foundation. For additional information on this presentation, call (702) 895-3401.
