The UNLV theatre department offers a unique opportunity for senior adults to become stars onstage and behind the scenes.
As part of the nationally acclaimed Senior Adult Theatre program, UNLV offers a wide range of courses in acting, directing and playwriting as well as a first-in-the-nation bachelor of arts degree in senior adult theatre.
The department also encourages seniors to work onstage and backstage, and no prior theater experience is necessary.
"Whatever your interest - ushering, building scenery, auditioning for plays - there are many opportunities available for older students," said Ann McDonough, director of the Senior Adult Theatre program.
Theatre department Chair Thomas P. Cooke said, "We are very proud of the work Ann McDonough has done in the development of the department of theatre's unique program in senior adult theatre. We believe her pioneering efforts will benefit the state of Nevada and will have a national impact as well."
Classes for spring semester begin in mid-January. Seniors age 62 and older who meet residency requirements may earn up to six tuition-free credits per semester on a space-available basis.
