Memories of past lives and experiences with the spiritual world will be the topics of discussion during Bigelow Chair of Consciousness Studies presentations in the coming weeks.

Brian Weiss, a psychiatrist and author, and Raymond Moody, holder of the Bigelow Chair of Consciousness Studies, will lecture on "Past Life Regressions and Reincarnation" at 6 p.m. Feb. 25 in the Flora Dungan Humanities building, Room 109.

Weiss, a Yale graduate and chairman emeritus of the department of psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, will share details from his research during which hypnotized subjects revealed memories from possible previous lives.

On March 1, Andy Lakey, an artist, and Keith Richardson, an anthropologist and art dealer, will discuss how Lakey's near-death experience in 1986 changed his life and the lives of others through his paintings of angels.

Their presentation will begin at 7 p.m. in the Classroom Building Complex, Room A-112.

Lakey developed his interest in angels and artwork through a spiritual encounter while on the verge of death.

Richardson has compiled stories about people who have reported profound spiritual experiences upon viewing Lakey's artwork and about the resulting changes in their lives.
