Princeton University philosophy professor Bas van Fraassen, who is considered to be one of the world's leading philosophers of science, will present a lecture at UNLV on Sept. 27.
Van Fraassen will speak on the topic "Is Scientific Change Revolutionary?" His talk will focus on whether changes in scientific ideas are a gradual process or, are they instead, truly revolutionary.
The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Hendrix Auditorium of the William D. Carlson Education Building. UNLV's department of philosophy, which is part of the College of Liberal Arts, is sponsoring this lecture.
For additional information about the lecture, call Todd Jones, associate professor of philosophy at UNLV, at 895-4691.
