Public relations and media professionals will meet to discuss ethics in the workplace at a panel discussion at UNLV on April 28.

The event, scheduled for 7-8:30 p.m. in the Moyer Student Union Ballroom, involves panel members fielding questions about ethical dilemmas based on hypothetical cases.

UNLV students and others who attend will learn about ethical issues encountered in the workplace and the major role ethics plays in daily business conduct.

The panel members include public relations professional Roger Buehrer of Southwest Gas; Alan Feldman, vice president of public affairs for Mirage Resorts; Brian Greenspun, president and editor of the Las Vegas Sun; Emily Neilson, news director for KLAS-TV 8; Jon Ralston, editor of The Ralston Report political newsletter; Charlie Zobell, managing editor of the Las Vegas Review-Journal; and Linda Bell, an attorney with the public defenders office.

UNLV ethics and policy studies director Craig Walton will serve as moderator.

In the last half hour of the event, the panel members will field questions from the audience based on the issues being discussed.

The event, which is free and open to the public, has been organized by two UNLV communication students, Rebecca Cecil and Dalicia Ramey, and is sponsored by the Hank Greenspun School of Communication.
