More than one million documents related to the proposed high-level radioactive waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada, are now online and available to the public via the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Licensing Support Network (LSN). On Monday, October 25 at 1:00 PM, LSN administrator Daniel J. Graser will present and discuss the LSN project at UNLV's Marjorie Barrick Museum, providing a live demonstration of the system as well as guidance on accessing the system online.
The LSN was developed in order to provide a single repository for documents related to the Yucca Mountain project, in a uniform, searchable format. Utilizing this system, interested members of the public on all sides of the issue may access a wide range of scientific studies and other documents related to Yucca Mountain from their own computers. Research conducted by the Information Science Research Institute (ISRI) at UNLV's Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering was a major influence on the design and construction of this massive public database
