WHAT: The Moskow Distinguished Speaker Series, sponsored by the UNLV College of Business, welcomes highly-acclaimed New York Times writers Maureen Dowd, a Pulitzer-Prize winning columnist, and Alessandra Stanley, the Times' chief television critic. They will talk about politics, the media, pop culture and current events. Dowd and Stanley will take questions after their presentation.
WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at 10 a.m.
WHERE: University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Student Union Theater (not open to public)
DETAILS: The Moskow Distinguished Speaker Series is a tribute to the parents of UNLV part-time business instructor, Jeffrey Moskow. Moskow donated $1 million to the College of Business to begin a speaker series that will give students insight behind the news and introduce them to a wide spectrum of professions - similar to the "current business topics" class Moskow currently teaches while undergoing treatment for kidney cancer. The class is a conversation between Moskow and his students who discuss current affairs and how the news affects students' lives. Through the speaker series, Moskow's goal is to ensure the premise of his class will continue to be taught if he is not able to.
