The Board of Regents of the University and Community College System of Nevada approved the addition of three new members to the UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees at its meeting held recently in Las Vegas.
The new members are: J. Terrence Lanni, CEO and chairman of the board of MGM MIRAGE; Mary Kaye Cashman, CEO and vice chairman of the board of Cashman Equipment Company; and James V. Bradham, president and CEO of Nevada Commerce Bank.
The UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees nominated the three new members this past summer and the Board of Regents officially approved them as members in December.
"We are extremely pleased to welcome such a capable and talented group of community leaders to the Foundation Board of Trustees," said John Gallagher, UNLV Foundation executive director and vice president for development. "Their work with the UNLV Foundation is critical to the future of this institution. They are helping to create UNLV in many important ways. As we look toward the challenges of the next few years, we know that this group of community leaders will be critical to our success."
Lanni, who served on the UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees from 1996-2000, was chief operating officer of Caesars World, Inc. for 18 years, before his current position at MGM MIRAGE. Lanni graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor's degree in speech and general management and a master's of business administration degree in finance. In 1997, he was appointed by the speaker of the house to serve on the National Gambling Impact Study Commission. In October 2000, Lanni was inducted into the Gaming Hall of Fame.
Cashman has been involved with Cashman Equipment - one of the oldest and largest Caterpillar dealers in North America - since 1970. She became a director in 1982 and CEO in 1995. Prior to working at Cashman Equipment, Cashman worked in the health care field as a registered nurse. She earned her degree in nursing from UNLV in 1982.
Bradham earned his bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University. He also served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. His career in banking has included 17 years as regional vice president of La Jolla Bank and Trust in California and another 17 years as president, CEO, and vice chairman of the American Bank of Commerce.
The Board of Regents also approved second six-year terms for four members. They are Scott MacTaggart, tax partner with Mangels, Butler, Marmaro & O'Reilly, LLC; Dr. Anthony Marlon, chairman and CEO of Sierra Health Services; Ted Quirk, attorney with Quirk and Tratos; and Larry Ruvo, senior managing director of Southern Wine and Spirits.
The addition of the three new members brings the total number of Board of Trustees members for the Foundation to 66, not including ex-officio and emeriti members. For more information, please call (702) 895-3641.
