John Readence has been appointed dean of the newly established University College. Readence received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 1975. He has been a member of the UNLV faculty since 1993 and is currently a professor of education in the department of curriculum and instruction.

The University College, the newest degree-granting unit on the UNLV campus, will seek to expand educational opportunities and enhance student retention by providing quality advising and support services for students without declared majors. It will also seek to provide flexible, well-rounded programs of study for traditional and nontraditional students interested in solid interdisciplinary studies curricula.
