"Morality in the Flesh" will be the topic when University of Oregon professor Mark Johnson speaks at UNLV on Feb. 14.
Johnson, who chairs the philosophy department at the University of Oregon, is scheduled to speak at 7:30 p.m. in the Classroom Building Complex, auditorium A-110. Part of the University Forum lecture series, his presentation is open to the public free of charge.
He will discuss the importance of metaphors in moral reasoning.
A variety of metaphors, including those on purity and strength, make up our moral knowledge and, therefore, are the basis for moral decision-making, according to Johnson.
The University Forum lecture series is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and underwritten by the UNLV Provost's Office.
