Rhonda Montgomery, an associate professor in UNLV's tourism and convention department, has been named the September recipient of the Alumni Faculty Award for Excellence in Academics and Student Focus.
An assistant dean in the office of student affairs in the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, Montgomery has authored or coauthored 15 refereed journal articles and five books; two more of her books have been accepted for publication. She has presented more than 40 conference papers.
A member of the UNLV faculty since 1995, she is also a member of several college and university committees, including the Academic Standards Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee.
Montgomery was formerly an assistant professor at the University of South Carolina in the department of hotel, restaurant, and tourism administration.
The UNLV alumni award is also given out in February, March, April, October, and November. This semester's recipients will be honored at the alumni leadership luncheon Nov. 3.
