Michael Feinstein, one of the top interpreters of the popular American song, will open the UNLV Performing Arts Center 30 th Anniversary Season, "Our Greatest Performances," at 8 p.m. on Friday, September 23 as part of the New York Stage & Beyond series. Feinstein will delight the audience with lush and inventive treatments to a dozen veteran American standards.
Feinstein began playing the piano by ear at age 5. As a teenager, he performed at weddings and parties in Columbus, Ohio, before moving to Los Angeles after high school to play in the area's piano bars. However, Feinstein was too talented to remain anonymous for long, and soon became a household name with the success of his one-man Broadway show Isn't It Romantic in 1988. Since then, Feinstein has made numerous recordings; dazzled audiences around the world with his live performances; and can be seen frequently in film and on television. His fourth album release, Michael Feinstein with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, is a milestone for Feinstein as it is his first recording with a symphony orchestra.
Tickets to Michael Feinstein are $45, $60, and $90 and can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center Box Office at 895-ARTS (2787) or by visiting pac.unlv.edu.
