The following events are part of Rebel Connection, the UNLV orientation and welcome program for new and returning students. These events provide a variety of interesting photo and interview opportunities. Media are asked to coordinate with the UNLV Office of Public Affairs.

Residence Hall Move-In (First Day)
Date/Time: Wednesday, August 20, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Location: UNLV Residence Halls
Description: This semester 1,500 students will be living in the residence halls, and the first day is typically the busiest for move-ins.

Official University Welcome
Date/Time: Thursday, August 21, from 9 to 10 a.m.
Location: Cox Pavilion
Description: UNLV Executive Vice President and Provost Neal Smatresk will officially welcome new students and their parents to Rebel Connection. More than 3,000 new students and their families will be on campus for the New Student Orientation program, which kicks off with the welcome and runs through Friday.

Meet and Greet Pancake Breakfast
Date/Time: Friday, August 22, from 8 to 10 a.m.
Location: UNLV Student Union Courtyard
Description: UNLV President David B. Ashley, athletes, coaches, cheerleaders and marching band members will serve up traditional breakfast before the Campus Resource Fair begins.

Fall Semester Begins
Date: Monday, August 25

"Premier UNLV"
Date/Time: Thursday, August 28, 7 p.m.(lighting of "UNLV" will take place at 8:45 p.m.)
Location: North Field (east of the UNLV Student Union, near the Lied Library)
Description: An annual tradition featuring fireworks and the formation of a giant illuminated "UNLV" created by hundreds of UNLV students and alumni with flashlights.
