The following events are part of Rebel Connection, the UNLV orientation and welcome program for new and returning students. These events provide a variety of interesting photo and interview opportunities. Media are asked to coordinate with the UNLV Office of Public Affairs.
Residence Hall Move-In (First Day)
Date/Time: Wednesday, August 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Location: UNLV Residence Halls
Description: More than 1,400 students will be living in the residence halls this semester, and the first day is typically the busiest for move-ins.
Official University Welcome Assembly for New Students
Date/Time: Thursday, August 23, from 9 to 10 a.m.
Location: Cox Pavilion
Description: UNLV President David B. Ashley will officially welcome new students and their parents to campus for the new student orientation. More than 3,000 new students and their families will be on campus for the New Student Orientation program, which kicks off with the welcome and runs through Friday.
Pancake Breakfast and Campus Tour
Date/Time: Friday, August 24, from 8 to 10 a.m.
Location: UNLV Student Union Courtyard
Description: UNLV President David B. Ashley, athletes, coaches and marching band members will serve up traditional breakfast fare before providing campus tours.
Fall Semester Begins
Date: Monday, August 27
"Premier UNLV"
Date/Time: Thursday, August 30, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Location: North Field (east of the UNLV Student Union, near the Lied Library)
Description: An annual tradition featuring fireworks and the formation of a giant illuminated "UNLV 50" created by hundreds of UNLV students and alumni with flashlights. This year the "50" was added to commemorate UNLV's 50th anniversary.
