About Troops to Teachers: Troops to Teachers (TTT) was established in 1994 as a Department
of Defense program. UNLV has participated in this program for the last 10 years and is starting
an aggressive outreach effort this fall. TTT helps eligible military personnel transition into a new
career as public school teachers by providing tuition assistance and resources to obtain a teaching
license and employment while still in school. Following the motto, "proud to serve again,"
troops say their military experience gives them the leadership and motivational skills, and a
culturally diverse background needed to bond with students and run an effective classroom.
About Spouses to Teachers: Spouses to Teachers (STT) is a Department of Defense and Department of Education project designed to assist spouses of active duty and reserve military members to become public school teachers. UNLV is starting the program this fall.
Family Members of Severely Wounded Soldiers: The program starts this fall at UNLV and will
provide scholarships to assist family members of severely wounded soldiers in pursuing a
teaching career.
