Dr. Bruce Greyson, a renowned psychiatrist from the University of Virginia, will give a lecture on near-death experiences Dec. 11.
The lecture, sponsored by the Bigelow Chair of Consciousness Studies, is set for 7-9 p.m. in the John S. Wright Hall Auditorium, Room 103, on the UNLV campus.
Since 1975, Greyson has investigated reports of thousands of patients who survived close calls with death. As an emergency room psychiatrist, he has made special studies of the near-death experiences of those patients who had attempted suicide and those who underwent unpleasant or frightening experiences during close brushes with death.
Greyson is widely regarded as an expert on the profound changes that often take place following recovery from a severe, life-threatening illness or injury.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
