The University of Nevada, Las Vegas announced today that its Invent the Future campaign has raised more than $407 million. As of March 31, 2008, the Invent the Future campaign has raised $220,780,965 in gift revenue received and $186,370,938 in gift intentions, for a total of $407,151,902.
"I'm pleased to say that more than 6,800 alumni have made gifts to the Invent the Future campaign," said Kirk Hartle, president of the UNLV Alumni Association. "To me, this demonstrates that our alumni understand the importance of giving back to and supporting the institution that created opportunities for them."
Throughout the campaign, alumni have provided private support across campus. This commitment is a measure of one of the campaign's goals: to involve more alumni in the life of the university.
"Alumni comprise the greatest number of donors in the campaign," said Nancy Strouse, executive director of the UNLV Foundation and senior associate vice president for development. "No other segment of our constituency has responded with so many donors to the effort to raise private funds than our graduates."
The UNLV Invent the Future campaign, the largest effort of its type in Nevada history, continues to focus on endowments that assist with recruitment and retention of top students and faculty; funds to provide enhanced learning opportunities through scholarships, fellowships and other programs; and funds to develop innovative learning environments through new and renovated facilities and special equipment.
