Southern Nevada residents in need of high-quality, low-cost counseling services can find the assistance they are seeking at UNLV's recently renamed Center for Individual, Couple, and Family Counseling.
To give the community a chance to learn more about the center, formerly known as the UNLV Client Services Center, an open house has been scheduled for 2-4 p.m. Aug. 25 in the Paul McDermott Physical Education Center, Room 207. To R.S.V.P. call 895-3106.
"There is a need in the community for low-cost, quality mental health services, especially with the recent closing of Charter Hospital," said Colleen Peterson, clinical assistant professor in UNLV's department of counseling and the counseling center's director. "With this center, we have the opportunity to make a difference and hopefully the name change will clarify our services and increase the number of people taking advantage of those services."
Services are provided by graduate students -- under faculty supervision -- in such areas as marriage counseling, family therapy, psychology, and school counseling. The cost is $25 per session, but no one is turned away because of an inability to pay.
For additional information on the center and its services, call Peterson at 895-3106.
