Dianne Arcangel, a lecturer and bereavement counselor who has worked as a chaplain for the hospice at the University of Texas Medical Center, will present a lecture titled "Reunions: Apparitional Encounters" 7-9 p.m. Nov. 4.
Arcangel's lecture will be held in the Flora Dungan Humanities Building, Room 109, and will feature a slide presentation by Raymond Moody, the current holder of UNLV's Bigelow Chair of Consciousness Studies.
According to Moody, some people who are going through the grieving process claim to have seen the person who has died. Moody said this phenomenon, known as a reunion, can be therapeutic. Arcangel works to facilitate this experience for those going through the grieving process, and she will discuss her work in this area during her lecture.
Arcangel has also served as facilitator and trainer for the Theatre of the Mind with Moody in Alabama, as well as director of library and museum archives at the National Institute for Discovery Science in Las Vegas.
Currently co-authoring a book about individuals who have experienced reunions, Arcangel has written articles for the Society for Psychical Research in England and the Paralogical Association. She has appeared on many television shows and documentaries, including "Oprah Winfrey," NBC's "Ancient Prophecies," Canada's "Current Affairs," and Britain's "Man Alive."
The lecture is free and open to the public.
