Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval will sign several bills to benefit higher education in Nevada. The governor will be joined by UNLV President Len Jessup, members of the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents, UNLV deans, administrators and students.

Details
The Nevada Legislature this year approved several bills related to higher education. The governor on Thursday is expected to sign:
- Senate Bill (SB) 553, which includes $25 million for UNLV’s new School of Medicine and $1.75 million to fund planning for the UNLV College of Engineering’s new academic and research building;
- SB 548, which will establish the Nevada Institute on Teaching and Educator Preparation for elite teacher training;
- SB 457, which allows for student veterans to earn college credit for military education, training and occupational experience.

UNLV President Len Jessup and students and leadership from UNLV’s School of Medicine, College of Engineering and Military and Veteran Services Center will be available for interviews following the bill signings.
