Upcoming University Forum lectures at UNLV will feature presentations on world health issues and the endangered tribes of Ethiopia.
On Oct. 30, Majid Ezzati, a research fellow with Resources for the Future, will present "Health, Poverty, Environment, and Development: Complex Interactions, Efficient Solutions." During the lecture, Ezzati will discuss his perspective on the World Health Organization's ongoing project to address global health issues. He will also examine the potential impacts of future population growth and demographic movement on economic and individual security.
On Nov. 6, professional adventure photographer and journalist Patricia Jordan will present "The Endangered Tribes of Southern Ethiopia." In this slide-illustrated lecture, Jordan will discuss her experience with the Karo, Borana, and Mursi tribes of Southern Ethiopia. As part of her presentation, she will also display artifacts from the region and play recorded tapes of these endangered tribes.
Both lectures will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History. All University Forum lectures are free and open to the public.
The University Forum lecture series is sponsored by UNLV's College of Liberal Arts and is underwritten by The Jerry Kalafatis Lodge Charitable Foundation and the UNLV Foundation.
