UNLV's William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration will host the second annual Friends of Nevada Dinner at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 in the Boyd Dining room, located in Frank and Estella Beam Hall on the UNLV campus.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Poverello House, a non-profit organization that provides shelter to the homeless in North Las Vegas and Henderson.

The dinner will be managed by Jean Hertzman, who was named 1998 Las Vegas Chef of the Year, and prepared by UNLV hotel college students. Those participating in the event will be able to taste a variety of foods inspired by the recipes (www.whatscookingnv.com) of Nevada politicians, many of who will be in attendance. In addition, Eberle Winery (www.eberlewinery.com) will showcase a variety of its red and white wines during the event.

The cost of the event is $60 and includes cocktails, microbrews, and non-alcoholic beverages. A 6 p.m. piano reception will precede the dinner. To make a reservation, contact Judy Feliz at 895-1330. Major credit cards and checks will be accepted. Seating is limited.

Poverello House is a nonprofit organization that provides services to homeless individuals who live on the streets of Las Vegas and Henderson. It offers laundry facilities, showers, home-cooked meals, beds to rest in, and a place to relax.
