Dr. James Frey, a professor of sociology and former chair of the sociology department, has been appointed dean of the College of Liberal Arts, President Carol C. Harter announced today.
"We have strong leadership in our college, and I am confident that Jim Frey, with his many years of service to UNLV, will be a great asset to the College of Liberal Arts and the entire university," Harter said.
Frey, who has been serving as interim dean of the college for the past year, has been a member of the UNLV faculty since 1974. His new appointment will become effective July 1.
Provost Douglas Ferraro said, "Dean Frey has done an exemplary job as interim dean, and I know he will continue to work with the Liberal Arts faculty to advance the mission and goals of the college."
