UNLV will host a viewing site for the first national "Food Safety Summit," a nationally televised broadcast of a panel discussion on the subject, which will be shown Sept. 11, 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Classroom Building Complex, Room B-113. There is no cost to attend.
The one-hour program, a joint production of The Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association and Hospitality Television (HTV), will be broadcast live via satellite. Viewers will have the opportunity to call in live with their questions about food safety.
Panelists for the "Food Safety Summit" include representatives of the National Council of Chain Restaurants; the FDA state training branch; independent operators and small chains; the National Food Processors Association; and the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association. Panelists will discuss their perspective on some of the hottest topics regarding food safety, including concerns specific to their segment of the food service industry.
"By hosting a viewing site for the 'Food Safety Summit,' we hope to make important food safety information available to people involved with the food service industry," said Bosselman. "It's one way we're supporting National Food Safety Education Month, which is September."
