Best-selling author and UNLV alumna Janet Lowe will be the featured speaker at a Dec. 2 luncheon hosted by the UNLV College of Business Alumni Association. The event, which is open to the public, is set for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Blasco Event Wing of the UNLV Foundation Building. Reservations are required.
Lowe is the author of a series of best-selling books that chronicle the financial and leadership success strategies of various business leaders. Her books include "Warren Buffett Speaks," "Bill Gates Speaks," and "Ted Turner Speaks," as well as 15 others on investment strategies and leadership topics.
"As one of the Business College's most accomplished graduates, Janet Lowe has made a significant contribution to the field of financial communications," said Richard Flaherty, dean of the UNLV College of Business. "We are thankful for her ongoing commitment to sharing her experiences with both the current and future business leaders of Las Vegas."
A financial journalist by trade, Lowe's articles have appeared in Newsweek, the Christian Science Monitor, the Los Angeles Times, and the San Francisco Chronicle. She has served as financial editor of the San Diego Union Tribune and editor of the San Diego Daily Transcript. Lowe received a bachelor's degree in business and economics from UNLV's College of Business and a master's degree in mass communication from San Diego State University.
"Through her work, Janet Lowe has provided valuable insight into the successful careers of some of the most distinguished leaders in the business world," said Pam Newell, vice president of the alumni association's executive board. "Professionals from small businesses and major corporations alike will benefit from her message about leadership in today's business environment."
Tickets to the luncheon are $25 for members of the UNLV College of Business Alumni Association and $40 for the general public. Space is limited. Reservations can be made by calling 895-3362.
