WHY: To examine high-speed rail options for Southern Nevada

Richard Lawless of U.S.-Japan High-Speed Rail and Tsutomu Morimura of Central Japan Railway Co. will discuss the N700-I bullet train and maglev system. Central Japan Railway Co. provides transportation for more than 450 million passengers per year in Japan, and announced earlier this year plans to bring both its bullet train and maglev systems to the U.S.
Additionally, a panel with Nevada Assemblyman Harvey Munford, Las Vegas Sun reporter Rick Velotta and UNLV professors Edward Neumann and Mohamed Kaseko will lead a discussion about the proposed bullet train project.
