UNLV has posted a preliminary full-time equivalent (FTE) figure of 14,332 for this fall -- setting a record for the largest FTE in the university's history and the largest in the history of Nevada at any institution of higher education, UNLV President Carol C. Harter announced on Sept. 25.
That figure represents an increase of 5.2 percent over the final figure for fall 1996 of 13,622.
The preliminary headcount for fall semester 1997, which began Aug. 25, is 20,017 -- an increase of 1.7 percent over the final headcount figure for fall 1996 of 19,683.
"These are excellent figures," Harter said. "They reflect the success of our efforts to become more student-centered and to offer academic programs that fulfill the needs of the community. We will continue working diligently in both these areas."
