Assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering Lori Bruce has received the April 1998 Alumni Faculty Award for Academic Excellence and Student Focus.
The recently established award is also given out in February, March, September, October, and November.
Bruce, who joined the UNLV faculty in 1996, has authored or coauthored more than 10 journal articles and papers for presentation since that time. She serves on many campus committees, including several within the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering. Her organizational affiliations include the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Tau Beta Pi.
Bruce, who has received several grants for her work, teaches courses in the areas of communications, digital signal processing, and computer engineering.
The creator of a new student elective -- Introduction to Bioelectric Signals and Systems -- Bruce designed the course as a senior elective to familiarize students with multidisciplinary design projects.
She was honored recently at this year's alumni scholarship luncheon.
