American humorist Mark Twain will "come to life" on Feb. 12 when Layne McAvoy, a noted performer and Twain scholar, brings his interpretation of the celebrated humorist to UNLV.
A veteran actor, McAvoy has performed as a Mark Twain impressionist in locations ranging from Piper's Opera in Virginia City to Leningrad University in Russia.
His Feb. 12 presentation at UNLV is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History. Part of the University Forum lecture series, it is free and open to the public.
A specialist in Twain's years in the West, he is the author of the biography "Hooked on Twain."
He portrays Samuel Clemens in the Discovery Channel's documentary, "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." He also will be the voice in an upcoming Twain biography that will be aired on the A&E channel.
