Despite enrollment gains among female students in colleges nationwide, women are still drastically underrepresented in the engineering profession.
To inspire the next generation of female engineers, the UNLV student chapter of the Society of Women Engineers will tour local girl scouts through high-tech labs, lead a hands-on project and introduce the scouts to several outstanding female UNLV engineering faculty.
The Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering is hosting several events to mark National Engineers Week (Feb. 20-26), including a free public lecture with Troy Wade, former Assistant Secretary of Energy for Defense Programs and chair of the Nevada Test Site Historical Foundation. A complete list of events is available at engineering.unlv.edu
