The recipients of scholarships totaling $30,000 for the 1997-1998 academic year were announced recently by UNLV's Hank Greenspun School of Communication.
Robert M. MacNamara Scholarships, sponsored by Maureen Barrett of Barrett and Associates, were awarded to Michelle Corbitt-Webster, Perris Eddy, Amy Jones, Brian Kuchar, Chad Simmons, and Brittany Sinner.
Association of Students in Communication Scholarships, sponsored by the Las Vegas Women in Communications, were awarded to Dawn Abrell, Leonil Brandel, Jennifer Evans, Dayla Fillmore, Viola Garrison-Cota, Amy Jones, Richard Kimbrough, Brian Kuchar, Sophia Luciani, Pauline Villapando, and Joshua Weltmer.
Greenspun Journalism Scholarships, sponsored by Barbara Greenspun of the Las Vegas Sun, were awarded to Jennifer Evans and Heather Subran.
Greenspun Communication Scholarships, sponsored by the Milken Family Foundation, were awarded to Jaymes Aimetti, Matthew Barton, Nicole Clem, Stacey Devald, Paula Golata, Teresa Green, Gayle Haas, Richard Kimbrough, Sergio Marquez, Susan McNabb, William Muchow, Farrah Newbold, Stephen Robertson, David Schulz, Pauline Villapando, Thomas Wahl, Joshua Weltmer, and Christine Wolf.
The Maury Stevens Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by Robin Greenspun, was awarded to Sarah Harris.
The Tom Keevil Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by Claire Keevil, was awarded to Stephanie Rushia. The Mary Hausch Scholarship, sponsored by the Donrey Media Group, was awarded to Erin Niemeyer.
The Ned Day Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Africa Tellez-Rios and the V.R. Hicks Outstanding Forensics Award went to Michael Laxague.
