PCA-NV and community partners will place pinwheels on the lawn of the Nevada legislative building to create awareness that child abuse and neglect are serious problems. The pinwheels also represent every child's right to a healthy, happy and full life.
Statewide there were more than 3,500 cases of child abuse and neglect reported as of 2012 according to the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services. Children's advocates across Nevada are calling on federal, state, and local policy makers to offer support for programs that ensure the well being of Nevada's children.
PCA-NV has recently become the state's fully chartered chapter of the national organization Prevent Child Abuse America.
PCA-NV in collaboration with private and public agencies raises awareness among voters and political candidates regarding the issues Nevada's children face. Among these issues include access to early care and learning and after-school programs, poverty, child abuse and neglect and adequate health care. The organization encourages residents, the community, and government to invest in kids.
