DETAILS: Dr. Larry Gragg, eminent historian and Curator's Teaching Professor at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, will present the first talk in the Gaming Research Colloquium Series sponsored by University Libraries' Center for Gaming Research at UNLV. Gragg will discuss his research on Bugsy Siegel, who played an infamous role in Las Vegas history. Gragg's talk titled, "There Were Few Solid Facts to Get in the Way: Popular Perceptions of Bugsy Siegel as Founding Father of Las Vegas," reveals the reality behind the image of Bugsy Siegel.
The discussion is part of Nevada Archives Week, a statewide initiative that highlights the importance of preserving and valuing the city's unique heritage. University Libraries houses a special collections division that has an extensive selection of articles, photographs and books devoted to the history of Las Vegas and Nevada. Gragg used these special collections to compile this research.
